Literacy is more than just reading and writing. It is a set of skills that gives people the ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate, and compute, using printed and written materials. Literacy helps people to achieve their goals, to develop their knowledge and their potential, and to participate fully in their community and wider society.
The Western Quebec Literacy Council (WQCL) offers free, one-on-one tutoring to adult learners throughout the Outaouais.
Meeting with a volunteer tutor once a week empowers adult learners to develop their reading, writing, numeracy and essential work skills according to their personal wants and needs.
The individual nature of lessons allows the learner to tailor their subjects and pace to their own learning styles.
