The WQLC now offers free online Tutor Training! If you are interested in becoming a volunteer tutor at the Western Quebec Literacy Council contact us today to see how you can take our training from the comfort of your own home!
We’re hosting another Tutor Training Workshop this February.
The WQLC is seeking volunteer tutors to help English-speaking adult learners upgrade their reading, writing and numeracy skills. We need volunteers in the Gatineau region to help fill demand for our services!
A WQLC tutor should:
–Have an interest in literacy and/or numeracy
–Be patient, empathetic, open minded and discreet
–Be willing to donate 2 to 4 hours of their time a week
What you’ll learn:
–How to work with adult learners
–Tutoring strategies: how to set learner led goals, how to prepare lessons, how to work with someone experiencing difficulties
–How to make a positive impact on someone’s life through literacy tutoring!
Workshop participants can learn more about our program and services and decide if tutoring adult learners is right for them.
